HESI A2~~I Failed TWICE
So a quick synopsis on my educational background----
Right after high school, graduating the year 2010, I immediately enrolled into a DCCCD college. I took all my prerequisites for my major from the year 2010 to the year of 2013. Receiving my Associates in Science around the same time. Due to circumstances, issues, problems, sh!t just plain BAD LUCK, I had to work. But honestly working gave me independency. That independency helped me see the real world outside of school, bought me a car, taught me teamwork, offered me money to buy clothes, food and other miscellaneous things. And the worst, pay bills. Who would of imagined the maintenance of a car was expensive. SMH. I took a little over 2 years off and of course unforeseen circumstances came about and mama needed more help then I thought. I slowly began taking one class a semester (paying my way) and transitioned to part time at work.
Now the only time I heard of the HESI was maybe 3 times ever!!! I wish someone would of told me about this Hesi earlier. I could of and would of taken it YEARS ago!!!! Now I am here, taking it and failing. And adding more time to entering the nursing program at UTA. Anyone that is not familiar with the Hesi A2 examination might be confused. It is an exam that most colleges/universities offer for those wanting to get into a nursing program. There are 4 sections, some require 5 sections. The 5 include reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, mathematics and anatomy and physiology. Other schools might add Chemistry and/or Physics. At University of Texas Arlington (YES my complicated school), you will need to pass all sections of it the first try. If you fail one section, ONE SECTION that means you failed ALL! UTA is killing me yo.
Scores First Try: Math 68
Vocabulary 74
Reading 88
Grammer 88
Scores second try: Math 88
Vocabulary 68
Reading 80
Grammar 77
At UTA, a nursing applicant would need at least a 75 in each section for the nursing school to consider you for the bachelors program. So you can imagine my frustration and disappointment when I saw my grades. My test calculated my grades right after I finished each section. So after taking the vocabulary section and saw that I failed again, I gave up and did not try on the last 2 sections. I was already downcast from a fail. I had studied. I had asked friends, tutors, youtube and the 3 F*cking Hesi books as my sole friends. The vocabulary was totally different and things I've never seen.
But it happened again.
How do you get over something like this? When you are so close to the end? I had a few people boost me up. One said, apply to other nursing schools, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Absolutely correct! At my school, UTA, there is a 4 month wait after each re-examinaton. Waiting 4 months would mean that I would pass the due date for Spring nursing applicants, it would mean another year of not pursing my baccalaureate degree. So why not apply to other schools, why should I wait? Why not take other courses while I wait?
UTA is still a school I want to graduate from, but it may need to be put at the back burner for a while, while I start my program somewhere else. Transferring is always available. I've done it before, I can do it again.
